Photograph of a gallery with light tan floor, one blue wall, and two tan walls. There are various artworks installed on the walls, and some in a case in the center of the floor.

Discover how slow looking at art can inspire creative writing and how writing can offer a powerful way to experience art. Join Katherine Tako-Girard, Danforth's Learning & Engagement Manager, and Cole Rodriguez, internationally recognized spoken word artist, for an extended observation of one work of art: an oil painting by Marion L. Pooke called The One Night Stand. We will explore art and writing through close looking, word-sketching, and expressive writing.

Cole Rodriguez is an internationally recognized spoken word artist, originating from Boston, MA. As a six-year participant in the National Poetry Slam, Cole has competed against the top-ranked poets in the United States. As a mother, teacher, artist and friend, Cole has used her poetic work to create community, inspire activism, and speak truth to power.

This program is free with paid museum admission.
